Job Description

We are on the lookout for an experienced Data Scientist to join our vibrant team in Johannesburg. As a Data Scientist, you will apply your expertise in statistical analysis and machine learning to extract valuable insights from complex datasets. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to transform data into strategic decisions, and help shape the future of our analytics initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead data analysis projects from inception to completion.
• Develop automation scripts for data preprocessing and analysis.
• Implement machine learning models for continuous improvement.
• Assess and refine existing models for better performance.
• Participate in data governance and data quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with IT to ensure data infrastructure meets analytical needs.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Advanced degree in Data Science or Statistics is an advantage

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in data analytics or a related field

• R Programming
• Statistical Analysis

• Critical thinking
• Adaptability

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Conversational

Advantageous

• Experience with Docker and containerization: Familiarity with using Docker for application deployment and management.
• Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP): Experience in applying NLP techniques to extract insights from unstructured data.
