Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Actuary to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of actuarial principles, with a track record in risk assessment and financial modeling. You will work closely with our clients to provide valuable insights and recommendations, ensuring their financial strategies are sound and sustainable.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain actuarial models for various insurance products.
• Review and validate the assumptions used in pricing and forecasting models.
• Support the business development team by providing insights for client proposals.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to actuarial work.
• Contribute to team discussions on strategy and market positioning.
• Assist in the development of new actuarial methodologies and best practices.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science
• Master's degree in Actuarial Science or Finance is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in actuarial consulting or insurance

Technical Skills

• Tableau/Power BI
• Stata

Soft Skills

• Team collaboration
• Detail-oriented

Certifications

• Certified Actuarial Analyst (CAA)
• Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with actuarial software tools: Familiarity with software such as Prophet or MoSes for actuarial modeling.
• Knowledge of financial regulations: Understanding of local and international financial compliance standards.
