Job Description

As a Marine Pipefitter, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems on marine vessels. You will ensure the efficiency of fluid and gas handling systems while adhering to safety regulations and industry standards. Responsibilities

  • Interpret technical schematics and plumbing plans for marine applications.
  • Utilise pipefitting tools to modify and join pipes based on project needs.
  • Ensure proper assembly of piping systems for gas and fluid control.
  • Conduct pressure tests and inspections to ensure system integrity.
  • Document all plumbing activities including materials and time spent.
  • Team up with welders and other specialists to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations specific to marine environments.
  • Mentor and oversee apprentices in the pipefitting team.
  • Keep abreast of new methodologies and technologies in the pipefitting realm.
  • Implement best practices for quality control in pipe installations.

Requirements

Education
  • National Certificate in Pipefitting (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
  • Additional certifications in related trades are advantageous.
Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in a marine pipefitting role.
