Insurance Claims Adjuster

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Claims Adjuster to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating insurance claims, determining the extent of the company’s liability, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of claims.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze claims files for accuracy and completeness.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants and legal representatives.
• Provide expert insight on claims-related issues to management.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to claims.
• Utilize claims management software for documentation and tracking.
• Assist in training junior team members on claims processes.
• Foster positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Identify areas for process improvement within the claims department.
• Attend court hearings if necessary to provide expert testimony.
• Stay informed about changes in insurance laws and regulations.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or a related field
• Postgraduate qualification preferred

Experience

• 5+ years in the insurance industry, preferably in claims handling

Certifications

• FAIS Compliance Certificate (where applicable)
• Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications preferred

Languages
