Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Public Health Officer to join our team in Durban. This role involves developing and implementing public health initiatives, monitoring health trends, and collaborating with various stakeholders to promote health and wellness in the community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health principles and a passion for improving community health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on public health trends and share findings with relevant stakeholders.
• Lead community-based participatory research projects.
• Create educational materials to inform community members on health issues.
• Facilitate partnerships with local health agencies to enhance services.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of health programs and make adjustments based on feedback.
• Attend community meetings and provide updates on health initiatives.
• Train staff and volunteers in public health best practices.
• Support grant writing efforts to secure funding for health projects.
• Create and maintain effective communication channels with the community.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Health Science or Social Science
• Master's degree in Public Health or Social Work is preferred

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in community outreach or health promotion
