Job Description

We are seeking an Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Durban. The ideal candidate will evaluate insurance applications, assess risks, and determine coverage amounts while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. You will play a key role in supporting our clients and ensuring their insurance needs are met effectively.

Responsibilities

• Examine insurance applications to assess risk implications.
• Work closely with clients to ensure their coverage needs are fulfilled.
• Prepare underwriting reports and documentation.
• Conduct periodic reviews of existing policies and accounts.
• Identify trends and recommend adjustments to underwriting criteria.
• Communicate findings to management and make recommendations.
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards and requirements.
• Support the sales team with underwriting insights.
• Utilize analytical tools to improve underwriting accuracy.
• Engage with clients regarding policy renewals and modifications.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field
• Post-graduate qualifications in insurance are advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry

• Insurance Policies Knowledge

• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
