Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our growing team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will assess insurance applications and determine coverage limits, as well as evaluate risks and make informed decisions on policy issuance.

Responsibilities

  • Review applications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Calculate risks and appropriate premiums based on industry standards.
  • Negotiate policy terms and conditions with clients and brokers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all underwriting activities.
  • Provide recommendations for risk mitigation to applicants.
  • Conduct market research to stay competitive in pricing.
  • Collaborate with claims department to manage outstanding issues.
  • Attend industry workshops and training to enhance underwriting skills.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in underwriting, preferably in a specific sector

  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
