Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous Library Acquisitions Technician to join our team. You'll be responsible for acquiring and processing all library materials, ensuring timely cataloguing and availability for our patrons. Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate potential acquisitions based on the needs of the library.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and negotiate prices.
  • Receive and process materials, including verifying shipments and resolving discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with cataloging and metadata staff to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of publishing trends and industry developments.
  • Assist with the training of new staff members in acquisitions processes.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
  • Additional qualifications in Digital Resource Management is preferred
Experience
  • Experience working in an academic library is advantageous
