Structural Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Structural Engineer in Durban who will be pivotal in our project teams. You will focus on designing robust structures that meet the demands of safety and durability. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively are critical for this role.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed plans for structural components of various projects.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams on project execution.
• Ensure the durability and sustainability of structures designed.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
• Evaluate existing structures and propose immediate remediation solutions.
• Communicate effectively with clients to clarify project needs.
• Lead meetings with clients and project stakeholders to discuss project milestones.
• Provide mentorship and feedback to junior engineering staff.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on completed work.
• Address and resolve any engineering challenges as they arise.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineering registration is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of structural design and project management experience

Technical Skills

• STAAD Pro
• SAP2000

Certifications

• Safety Management Certification
• Six Sigma Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Green Building Standards: Knowledge of sustainable building practices and certifications, such as Green Star.
• Familiarity with Geotechnical analysis: Experience in assessing the ground conditions and their impact on structural design.
