Freight Coordinator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Freight Coordinator to join our Durban team. In this role, you will facilitate the movement of goods, manage shipping schedules, and maintain communication with clients and carriers. Your expertise in logistics will help us maintain our high standards of service.

Responsibilities

• Manage the logistics of shipments including scheduling and routing.
• Maintain effective communication with customers regarding their freight.
• Handle claims and discrepancies in shipping documentation.
• Analyze shipping data to optimize routes and reduce costs.
• Create and maintain records of all freight transactions.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior logistics staff.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a relevant field

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in logistics or freight coordination

Technical Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
• Understanding of international shipping processes

Soft Skills

• Excellent organizational skills
• Customer service orientation

Certifications

• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
• International Freight Forwarder Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans: Ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages.
• Experience in a fast-paced logistics environment: Background in high-volume shipping operations.
