We are in search of a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our robust team in Durban. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in evaluating insurance applications, analyzing risk, and making informed decisions to ensure profitability and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assess new business and renewal risks and recommend appropriate coverage terms.
• Utilize underwriting software and tools to support decision-making processes.
• Develop strong relationships with brokers and clients to enhance the underwriting process.
• Respond to queries or requests for information from clients or internal teams.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance underwriting efficiency.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline
• Advanced degree preferred, but not required

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting or a similar role

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software Proficiency
• Regulatory Knowledge

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Underwriting and Risk Management Certification
• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)

Languages

• English: Fluent
