We are seeking an experienced Environmental Risk Manager to lead our sustainability efforts in Johannesburg. This role involves assessing environmental risks and ensuring compliance with local regulations while developing strategies for sustainable practices. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of environmental legislation and strong project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and mitigate environmental risks associated with new projects.
• Identify opportunities for sustainability improvements across the organization.
• Provide guidance on environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
• Lead environmental audits and assessments to ensure adherence to policies.
• Develop educational materials to enhance staff understanding of environmental issues.
• Work with other departments to achieve sustainability goals and reduce environmental impact.
• Respond to environmental incidents and develop crisis management strategies.
• Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of environmental programs.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Master's degree is preferred

• 5+ years of experience in environmental risk management
