Job Description

Join our Johannesburg office as an Insurance Underwriter, where you will play a key role in assessing and managing risk for our clients. You will analyze insurance applications, collaborate with agents, and prepare reports to support our underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of insurance applications to establish risk levels.
  • Develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions to agents and clients effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and risk assessments.
  • Assist in training junior underwriting staff and interns.
  • Participate in developing insurance products and pricing strategies.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to refine underwriting approaches.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in underwriting practices.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Professional qualification in Insurance is a plus
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in underwriting or insurance-related roles
