Sailor / Steersman

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Sailor / Steersman to navigate and steer our vessels safely. The ideal candidate will possess strong maritime knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a keen attention to detail to ensure safe and efficient travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe navigation practices while on duty.
• Actively engage in problem-solving and decision-making during navigation.
• Supervise and train junior crew members in safe practices.
• Conduct routine checks on all safety equipment.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to foster a positive working atmosphere.

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Nautical Science or related field

Experience

• 5+ years' experience in marine operations preferred

Technical Skills

• Emergency Response Skills

Soft Skills

• Leadership

Certifications

• GMDSS Certification

Languages

• Afrikaans: Fluent

Advantageous

• Previous Experience in Offshore Operations: Experience working on offshore vessels or during international voyages.
• Training in First Aid and Safety: Certification in first-aid and safety protocols for onboard emergencies.
