Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing risk and determining policy terms for clients. You should possess a deep understanding of the insurance industry and strong analytical skills to evaluate applications effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assess and determine the level of risk associated with potential insurance clients.
• Gather information from various sources, including medical records, financial statements, and inspection reports.
• Use analytical and statistical methods to evaluate information and make decisions.
• Work closely with the sales team to provide support during the client acquisition process.
• Identify potential areas of improvement in underwriting processes.
• Respond to inquiries from clients and provide explanations of coverage options.
• Monitor policy renewals and re-evaluate risks as necessary.
• Collaborate with risk management teams to enhance assessment accuracy.
• Maintain documentation of underwriting decisions and review performance metrics.
• Participate in training programs to stay updated on industry changes.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field
• Insurance certifications (such as CPCU, ARe) are advantageous

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant underwriting experience
