Timber Cutter

Job Description

As a Timber Cutter, you will be responsible for cutting and sawing timber into various sizes and shapes following precise specifications. This role demands physical strength and meticulous attention to detail to ensure high-quality outputs.

Responsibilities

• Select and fell trees according to company specifications.
• Trim branches and remove foliage from felled trees.
• Load logs onto transport vehicles efficiently.
• Maintain equipment in good working order to ensure safety.
• Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Work alongside other forestry team members to achieve goals.
• Perform routine maintenance on cutting tools.
• Create and uphold a schedule for cutting operations.
• Assist in timber inventory management.
• Participate in training sessions for new techniques and safety practices.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 10 or equivalent

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in timber cutting or related field

Technical Skills

• Chainsaw operation
• Loading equipment operation

Soft Skills

• Teamwork
• Communication skills

Certifications

• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (advantageous)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Prior experience with automated cutting equipment: Experience in operating high-tech cutting machinery.
• Forklift or crane operator certification: Certification allows for safe transport of heavy timber.
