Mental Health Counselor

Job Description

We are looking for an empathetic Mental Health Counselor who is passionate about helping others. Your role will involve providing guidance and support to those facing mental health challenges. You will utilize various therapeutic techniques, actively participate in case discussions, and help shape our client's paths to recovery and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Engage clients in meaningful therapeutic conversations.
• Document client sessions and outcomes in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Educate and empower clients to take charge of their mental health.
• Facilitate workshops and community support groups.
• Partner with referral sources to ensure a continuum of care.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Counselling or related field
• Master's degree is highly advantageous

Experience

• 4+ years of direct counseling experience

• Interpersonal Skills

Certifications

• Certificate in Mental Health Counselling
• Therapist License (SACSSP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Zulu: Basic

• Familiarity with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Experience in using DBT for treating high-risk clients.
• Group Therapy Facilitation Skills: Ability to effectively lead group therapy sessions.
