Laboratory Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations by performing a variety of tests and analyses to ensure accurate results.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment maintenance and troubleshoot problems as necessary.
• Support the implementation of new laboratory technologies and methods.
• Participate in quality assurance and control measures.
• Collaborate with team members to improve laboratory workflow.
• Engage in continuing education to stay updated on industry advancements.
• Assist in the management of laboratory inventories and supplies.
• Contribute to team meetings and share ideas for laboratory improvement.

Requirements

Education

• BSc in Laboratory Science or related field
• Postgraduate qualification in a related field is preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of clinical laboratory experience

Technical Skills

• Microbiology
• Analytical Chemistry

Soft Skills

• Critical Thinking
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Certified Clinical Laboratory Technician (CCLT)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Quality Management Systems: Understanding of QMS practices in laboratory settings.
• Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP): Awareness of GLP standards and protocols.
