Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our Johannesburg team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assessing risks and determining appropriate coverage for clients. In this role, you will evaluate insurance applications, analyze data, and collaborate with agents to ensure we provide competitive and comprehensive insurance solutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of insurance applications and claims.
• Make informed decisions regarding policy issuance and adjustments.
• Work closely with risk managers to mitigate potential losses.
• Assist in developing underwriting guidelines and strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of assessments and decisions.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior underwriters.
• Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Prepare reports on underwriting activities and present findings to management.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, or Business Administration
• Professional certifications such as CPCU or AINS are a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in underwriting or related fields
