Job Description

We are seeking a talented Structural Designer to join our dynamic Cape Town team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering, particularly in the design and analysis of various structures. This role will involve collaborating with project managers and other engineers to develop innovative solutions that meet client specifications while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design projects from conception to completion.
  • Analyze project feasibility and develop design concepts.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Assist in developing project scopes and timelines.
  • Work closely with project managers to track project progress.
  • Research and integrate new materials and technologies.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives in design processes.
  • Ensure quality assurance and control measures are in place.
  • Provide training on new design tools to team members.
  • Prepare project budgets and support cost estimation.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
Experience
  • 4-6 years of experience in structural engineering

  • SAP2000
  • STAAD.Pro
Soft Skills
  • Critical Thinking
  • Communication Skills
Certifications
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)
  • Registered Structural Engineer (RSE)
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience: Hands-on experience with Civil 3D for civil engineering projects.
  • Experience in seismic design: Knowledge in designing structures that can withstand seismic activity.
