Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to assess and evaluate risk for our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background and experience in insurance underwriting, enabling them to make informed decisions on policy applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk evaluations for insurance applications.
• Assess property and casualty risks based on set criteria.
• Collaborate with the sales team to tailor insurance offerings.
• Prepare and analyze underwriting reports and statistics.
• Evaluate claims history to inform underwriting decisions.
• Develop and implement effective underwriting guidelines.
• Offer expert advice to agents on risk management.
• Facilitate training sessions for junior underwriters.
• Engage in continuous professional development and certifications.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Economics
• Relevant underwriting certification preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience

Technical Skills

• Statistical Analysis
• Financial Reporting

Soft Skills

• Negotiation
• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Fluency in Afrikaans: Ability to converse in Afrikaans is an added advantage.
• Client Relationship Management experience: Experience in managing client relationships for underwriting purposes.
