Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Manager to lead our legal team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in intellectual property law, with expertise in managing patents and trademarks. You will be responsible for developing and implementing IP strategies that align with our business goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management of all intellectual property rights.
• Draft, negotiate, and review IP agreements and contracts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster an innovation culture.
• Review and assess IP risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Oversee IP litigation and coordinate with external counsel.
• Develop training programs on IP matters for internal teams.
• Ensure IP portfolio aligns with business objectives.
• Engage with industry organizations and stakeholders.
• Conduct market research related to IP issues.
• Prepare reports for executive management regarding IP strategies.

Requirements

Education

• LLM in Intellectual Property Law
• MBA is a plus

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in IP management and strategy

Technical Skills

• Patent Law
• Trademark Law

Certifications

• Certified Intellectual Property Professional (CIPP)

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Afrikaans: Fluent
