Signal Mechanic

Job Description

The Signal Mechanic will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining railway signalling equipment and systems in accordance with stringent industry standards and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on fault finding and a commitment to upholding safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain signal systems on rail tracks.
• Test and troubleshoot signal equipment to identify faults.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
• Maintain documentation of maintenance activities and reports.
• Follow all safety protocols and regulations.
• Assist in the development of maintenance schedules.
• Participate in training sessions for safety and equipment handling.
• Ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained and operational.
• Liaise with procurement for necessary parts and materials.
• Provide expert advice on improvements to systems and processes.

Requirements

Education

• Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
• Trade qualification in Electrical Engineering is advantageous

Experience

• 3-5 years of related experience preferred

Certifications
