Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Wildlife Veterinarian to join our team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have experience in wildlife medicine, rehabilitation, and a strong commitment to animal conservation.

Responsibilities

  • Administer emergency treatment and surgical care to wildlife.
  • Evaluate the health of animals prior to release into their natural habitats.
  • Work closely with law enforcement in cases of wildlife trafficking or illegal hunting.
  • Conduct necropsies for research and disease management purposes.
  • Engage in public education initiatives focusing on wildlife conservation.
  • Develop collaborations with local, national, and international conservation agencies.
  • Provide training workshops for volunteers and local veterinarians on wildlife care.
  • Participate in wildlife rescue missions and outdoor fieldwork.
  • Document and report data for conservation assessments and grant proposals.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM)
  • Master's degree or additional certification in wildlife or conservation medicine preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with wildlife or in a conservation setting.
