Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to assess risks and determine coverage for clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and experience in the insurance sector to help make informed underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

• Assess client data and determine risk levels for underwriting.
• Create and implement underwriting policies and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments using automated underwriting systems.
• Liaise with other departments to ensure cohesive operations.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for all underwriting activity.
• Participate in training sessions for new systems and processes.
• Review and evaluate existing policy terms and conditions.
• Ensure compliance with insurance laws and regulations.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and maintain clear communication.
• Provide feedback on process improvements and risk management techniques.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field
• Qualifications from a recognized insurance body are preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting

• Underwriting Software Proficiency

Certifications

• Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA)
