Job Description

As a Log Grader and Scaler, you will be an integral part of our construction team, responsible for measuring and marking deck planks for cutting, assessing materials, and using hand and power tools to shape timber. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining safety standards on the job site.

Responsibilities

• Measure and mark deck planks for precision cutting.
• Rate and classify wood quality according to industry standards.
• Utilize tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Help in the construction of frameworks for decks.
• Maintain site cleanliness and equipment safety.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and operational standards.
• Work collaboratively with other trades on construction sites.

Requirements

Education

• Matric Certificate
• Certification in carpentry or construction preferred

Experience

• Prior experience in construction or a related field is beneficial.

Technical Skills

• Experience with welding or metalworking
• Ability to drive a forklift

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving skills

Languages

• English: Fluent

• Familiarity with timber grading standards: Understanding of how to classify and grade different types of timber.
