Backend Developer

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our dynamic team in Cape Town. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining server-side applications and services that power our main products. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of backend frameworks and databases, along with a passion for problem-solving and building scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend components and APIs using modern frameworks.
• Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
• Ensure optimal functionality of applications by identifying and addressing bottlenecks.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Maintain database and server security, ensuring best practices in application security.
• Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.
• Assess and implement new technologies for continuous improvement.
• Document development processes, code changes, and feature updates.
• Assist in troubleshooting and fixing production issues.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related field

• 5+ years in backend development
