Job Description

As a Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator at our company, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of disposal plant equipment and systems. You will ensure the safe disposal of waste materials while adhering to environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in waste management and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain wastewater treatment equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during operations.
• Assist in maintaining quality control of treated wastewater.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and conduct repairs.
• Collect and analyze samples for regulatory compliance.
• Document and report on operational data.
• Communicate effectively with management regarding operational status.
• Engage in continuous training and professional development.
• Assist in emergency response procedures.
• Support the development of operational procedures.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Post-secondary education in environmental science or related field is advantageous

Experience

• 3+ years of relevant experience

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in waste disposal equipment
• Knowledge of hazardous waste handling

Soft Skills

• Teamwork

Certifications

• Hazardous Waste Management Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of environmental regulations: Comprehensive understanding of South African environmental regulations related to waste management.
• Experience in record-keeping for waste disposal: Ability to maintain accurate records in compliance with regulations.
