Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Urban Planner to join our dynamic team in Durban. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing urban strategies, conducting feasibility studies, and engaging with stakeholders to ensure sustainable development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive urban plans that consider environmental, social, and economic factors.
  • Conduct land use assessments and propose zoning amendments as needed.
  • Foster partnerships with stakeholders to promote community development initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed documentation for public hearings and planning commissions.
  • Evaluate the impact of new developments on local infrastructure.
  • Research best practices in urban planning and integrate innovative methodologies.
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and the community to advocate for planning initiatives.
  • Guide the execution of urban projects while adhering to time and budget constraints.
  • Provide mentorship to junior planners and interns.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance technical skills.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field
  • Master's degree with a focus on sustainable development is advantageous
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in urban planning and project management
