Job Description

As an Animal Technician in Cape Town, your role will involve hands-on care for a variety of animals. You will be integral in monitoring health, assisting in surgeries, and educating pet owners about proper care. Responsibilities

  • Handle and care for sick and injured animals while ensuring their comfort.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians on treatment plans and patient follow-ups.
  • Assist with anesthesia and monitoring during surgeries.
  • Provide customer service to pet owners in a compassionate manner.
  • Help manage animal intake and discharge processes.
  • Maintain detailed records of procedures, treatments, and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to provide holistic care.
  • Assist in training new staff members or interns.
  • Engage in local veterinary community events to promote awareness of animal health.
  • Be on call for after-hours emergencies when required.

Requirements

Education
  • Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or Animal Science
  • Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology is a plus
Experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a veterinary environment or animal care
