Security Engineer

As a Security Engineer in our Johannesburg office, you will play a key role in developing and implementing robust security measures. Your responsibilities will include performing penetration testing, monitoring security events, and working with teams to respond to breaches. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about cybersecurity, stay updated on the latest trends, and are committed to protecting sensitive information through active defense strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assess and implement security technologies and tools.
• Respond to security breaches and incidents in a timely manner.
• Conduct penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities.
• Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Create and update incident response plans.
• Advise on compliance with data protection regulations.
• Engage in threat hunting activities to identify risks.
• Lead security awareness initiatives across the organisation.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate secure coding practices.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology or related field
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are advantageous

Experience

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field
