Job Description

We are looking for an Insurance Underwriter to become part of our dynamic Durban team. You'll be responsible for evaluating applications, analyzing risks, and using data-driven insights to deliver tailored insurance solutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough analysis of insurance applications to assess risks.
• Make informed decisions regarding policy terms and pricing.
• Maintain customer relationships and follow up on applications.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve customer service.
• Participate in audits and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Review and revise underwriting processes to streamline operations.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior underwriters.
• Stay informed on industry developments to enhance underwriting practices.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics or Insurance
• Advanced certifications (e.g., CII or equivalent) preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 4 years in underwriting or risk management

Technical Skills

• Insurance software proficiency
• Data analysis

Soft Skills

• Negotiation skills
• Problem-solving

Certifications

• CII (Chartered Insurance Institute)
• AIU (Associate in Underwriting)

Languages

• English: Fluent
