Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will leverage statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets, thereby supporting strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Leverage statistical techniques to analyze data and derive actionable insights.
• Build and optimize predictive models and algorithms.
• Design and deliver comprehensive reports on analytics projects.
• Work closely with the IT team to enhance data management systems.
• Facilitate workshops to communicate data findings across departments.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the analyses.
• Contribute to research and ideation for new data-driven initiatives.
• Implement data monitoring processes to track model accuracy.
• Develop dashboards to visualize metrics and performance indicators.
• Support the training of junior data analysts.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science or Statistics
• Master's degree in relevant field is an advantage

Experience

• 3+ years experience in data analysis or data science roles

Technical Skills

• R Programming
• Big Data Technologies

Certifications

• Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate
• Data Science Certification (DataCamp, Coursera etc.)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP): Hands-on experience in analyzing unstructured text data.
