Job Description

We are seeking an Urban Planner to join our Johannesburg office. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic plans to enhance urban spaces, focusing on sustainability and community engagement. As an Urban Planner, you will assess land use and zoning issues, conducting thorough research to inform your recommendations. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create comprehensive urban designs that cater to the needs of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze urban planning policies and practices.
  • Draft and revise plans for zoning, land use, and urban design.
  • Engage with local communities to gather input on planning processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of urban planning applications and documentation.
  • Support interdisciplinary teams in project development and management.
  • Assess the impact of urban development on local communities and the environment.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Implement best practices in urban sustainability.
  • Stay abreast of legislative changes affecting urban planning.
  • Foster partnerships with local government, NGOs, and community organizations.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Planning or Environmental Studies
  • Master's degree in related field is an advantage
Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in urban development projects
