Pharmacist

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Pharmacist to join our team. You will engage with patients, verify prescriptions, and advise them on medication therapies. Your expertise will help us to not only dispel fears about medications but also promote better health outcomes in the community.

Responsibilities

• Provide medication therapy management and drug utilization evaluations.
• Review patient medical history to identify potential drug interactions.
• Educate patients about potential side effects of medications.
• Calculate dosages and prepare prescriptions accurately.
• Support pharmacy operations through effective inventory management.
• Maintain a professional and safe environment within the pharmacy.
• Conduct regular consultations to educate patients on healthy lifestyle choices.
• Liaise with healthcare professionals for effective patient management.
• Lead pharmacy staff training sessions.
• Promote and implement health screenings and immunizations within the community.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
• Advanced pharmacy practice certificate is preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting

Certifications

• Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
• Basic Life Support certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
• Xhosa: Advanced
