Cargo and Freight Agent

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cargo and Freight Agent to join our dynamic logistics team. You will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring all shipments to ensure timely delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and track the logistics of cargo movement.
• Manage communication with clients and carriers to facilitate shipments.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve any shipping-related issues.
• Prepare shipping documentation for customs clearance.
• Monitor industry regulations to ensure compliance.
• Assist in data entry and record keeping for shipment tracking.
• Participate in meetings to discuss shipping schedules and logistics strategies.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics preferred

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in freight forwarding or a related field

Technical Skills

• Freight Management Software (TMS, WMS)
• Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

Soft Skills

• Attention to Detail
• Interpersonal Skills

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience negotiating with carriers: Ability to secure competitive shipping rates.
• Knowledge of South African customs regulations: Awareness of legal shipping requirements.
