Environmental Scientist

Job Description

We are looking for an Environmental Scientist who is passionate about sustainability and ecological conservation to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in conducting field studies, analysing data, and recommending practices to ensure environmental compliance and preserve our natural resources.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate community engagement in environmental programs.
• Implement monitoring systems for renewable resources.
• Prepare and interpret complex data for stakeholders.
• Advise on environmental legislation and assist with compliance.
• Research new technologies and methods for pollution control.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on research projects.
• Assist in grant writing for environmental funding applications.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
• Master's degree in Environmental Policy is a plus

Experience

• 3-5 years of professional experience in environmental consultancy

Technical Skills

• GIS Mapping
• Project Management

• Public Speaking
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Environmental Impact Assessment Certification
• LEED Green Associate

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with Sustainable Practices: Experience in developing and recommending sustainable practices tailored to various environments.
• Fieldwork Experience: Prior experience in fieldwork and ecological surveys preferred.
