Job Description

As an Emotionally Impaired Teacher, you will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with emotional and behavioral challenges. Your role will involve close collaboration with parents, guardians, and fellow educators to support student learning and progress.

Responsibilities

  • Design engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess and evaluate students’ academic and emotional progress.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to promote a positive classroom environment.
  • Utilize assistive technology and resources to enhance student learning.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to help build trust and understanding.
  • Stay informed on current trends and best practices in special education.
  • Engage in regular communication with parents and guardians about their children’s progress.
  • Coordinate with mental health professionals and support staff to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Lead classroom activities and provide social-emotional learning opportunities.

Requirements

Education
  • Master’s degree in special education or related field is preferred
  • Certification in special education or equivalent is required
Experience
  • Experience with behavior management and crisis intervention techniques
Technical Skills
  • Behavior management software proficiency
