Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our growing team in Durban. You will be responsible for assessing risk and determining appropriate coverage and premiums for clients, ensuring that our insurance products are competitive and aligned with market trends.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial information and property evaluations to determine risk levels.
• Negotiate terms of coverage with agents and clients.
• Manage a portfolio of insurance products tailored to client needs.
• Develop underwriting guidelines and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Assist in training junior underwriters on processes and industry practices.
• Utilize underwriting software tools to streamline assessments.
• Collaborate with claims departments to refine risk criteria.
• Contribute to pricing strategy discussions based on market analysis.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field
• Postgraduate qualification in Insurance is a plus

Experience

• 4-6 years of experience in an underwriting role
