Zoo Veterinarian

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Zoo Veterinarian to join our team in Durban. In this role, you will provide extensive medical and surgical care to a variety of species and play an essential part in wildlife conservation efforts.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a range of animal health issues, ensuring prompt and effective medical care.
• Conduct regular health assessments and develop preventative healthcare strategies.
• Work with the veterinary team on animal welfare and rescue operations.
• Engage with the public to promote awareness of wildlife conservation issues.
• Oversee the procurement and use of medical supplies.
• Train and mentor junior veterinary staff and interns.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Veterinary Medicine
• Specialization in wildlife or zoo medicine is preferred.

Experience

• Experience with exotic animals is highly desirable.

Certifications

• Certified Veterinary Practitioner (CVP)
