Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable IP Legal Consultant to join our Johannesburg team. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice on intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. This role demands a solid understanding of local and international IP regulations as well as a proactive approach to client consultation.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients on intellectual property rights and strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on IP compliance and risk management.
  • Lead IP litigation matters, managing all stages of the process.
  • Prepare and submit applications for trademarks and patents.
  • Advise on the commercialization of IP assets.
  • Facilitate workshops to educate clients on intellectual property protection.
  • Monitor competitor activities and conduct market analysis.
  • Assist in developing company policies regarding IP management.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure adherence to IP laws.
  • Engage with government bodies regarding IP matters.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, specializing in Intellectual Property or related field
  • Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law is an advantage
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in intellectual property law
