Job Description

We are searching for a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to work with visually impaired learners in an inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing tailored learning plans and be proficient in a variety of teaching strategies aimed at engaging visually impaired students.

Responsibilities

  • Create individualized lesson plans tailored to visually impaired learners’ needs.
  • Teach various subjects, including the arts and sciences, in an adaptive manner.
  • Support learners with varying levels of visual impairment through customized teaching techniques.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to keep them informed on student development.
  • Utilize assistive technologies to enhance learning experiences.
  • Participate in school meetings and collaborate with other educators to promote inclusivity.
  • Share insights and strategies for improving access to education for visually impaired students.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (Special Needs Education)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Specialising in Special Needs Education) is preferred
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in teaching visually impaired students

Certifications
  • SACE Registration
  • Certification in Braille Instruction is advantageous
Languages

  • Familiarity with adaptive classroom technologies: Knowledge and experience in using various adaptive technologies in the classroom.
