Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to assess risk and determine insurance coverage for clients. The ideal candidate will possess a sound understanding of risk management principles and show expertise in evaluating insurance applications.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data and perform risk assessments on insurance applications.
• Engage with clients to facilitate understanding of requirements and concerns.
• Utilize market trends to inform underwriting strategies.
• Evaluate new insurance products and propose enhancements based on market demands.
• Assist in developing marketing initiatives to support sales efforts.
• Document all underwriting processes and maintain accurate records.
• Respond to inquiries and provide ongoing support to insurance agents.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss underwriting challenges and successes.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Master's degree in Finance or Insurance is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of underwriting experience strongly preferred

Certifications

• Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) Certification
• Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
