As an Insurance Underwriter in our Durban office, you will assess the risk of potential clients and determine coverage options while ensuring compliance with our guidelines and policies. Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough risk evaluations and calculations for potential clients.
• Ensure underwriting compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
• Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth processes.
• Monitor existing policies and review renewals proactively to assess potential risks.
• Analyze loss data to recommend adjustments in underwriting guidelines.
• Prepare presentations for senior management on underwriting strategies.
• Ensure sustainability in risk management practices.
• Stay updated on relevant insurance products and changes in the law.
• Participate in industry conferences to represent the company.
• Identify areas for process improvement within the underwriting department.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Economics, or related field
• Professional designation preferred (e.g. AIC, CPCU)

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in the insurance sector or underwriting

• Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII)
• Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
