Veterinarian

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Veterinarian to join our team at Local Veterinary Clinic in Pietermaritzburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to animal welfare and extensive veterinary skills. You will provide medical care, perform surgeries, and develop treatment plans, while also educating pet owners about proper animal care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality veterinary services with a focus on patient care.
• Diagnose health problems and formulate treatment plans.
• Perform dental cleanings and other related procedures.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners about health concerns.
• Provide in-house laboratory diagnostics and interpretation.
• Participate in after-hours emergency care as needed.
• Foster a welcoming environment for pets and owners.
• Monitor animal behavior and response to healing.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and adapt accordingly.
• Contribute to the clinic's continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Education

• BVSc or equivalent veterinary qualification

Experience

• 6+ years of experience in diverse veterinary settings

Technical Skills

• Emergency Care

Advantageous

• Certifications in Animal Behavior: Certification or qualifications in animal behavior and psychology are a plus.
• Research experience in veterinary medicine: Experience in veterinary research can benefit the clinic's services.
