Job Description

Become a vital part of our team as an Insurance Underwriter, responsible for reviewing and evaluating insurance applications and determining coverage options. The successful candidate will exhibit strong analytical abilities and a keen understanding of risk assessment, contributing to the ongoing success of our client-focused company in Port Elizabeth.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data and conduct risk assessments for insurance proposals.
• Determine underwriting parameters, including terms and conditions.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support new initiatives.
• Provide exceptional service during the underwriting process to agents and clients.
• Generate regular reports detailing underwriting performance metrics.
• Identify areas for risk improvement in client proposals.
• Participate in industry conferences and workshops to enhance knowledge.
• Review and maintain underwriting software systems for efficiency.
• Facilitate training sessions for team members on risk evaluation techniques.
• Work closely with compliance teams to ensure adherence to legal standards.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field

Experience

• 4-6 years of experience in underwriting with a focus on insurance

Certifications

• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) or equivalent

Languages

• English: Fluent
