Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

As part of our engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer will engage in the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and systems. You will be working closely with project stakeholders to ensure the designs are efficient and compliant with industry standards. This position offers the chance to contribute to innovative projects while developing your engineering skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Innovate and enhance existing mechanical designs.
• Lead mechanical system and components testing.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for project requirements.
• Create prototypes and conduct testing to validate design functionality.
• Monitor project budgets and timelines effectively.
• Implement safety protocols in design processes.
• Participate in project meetings to establish design goals.
• Document all engineering changes and updates accurately.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns within the department.
• Evaluate materials and manufacturing processes for efficiency.
• Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge and trends.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Master’s in Mechanical Engineering is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years' experience in complex mechanical systems

Languages

• Afrikaans: Conversational
• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of renewable energy systems: Exposure or experience with renewable energy projects.
