Job Description

We are seeking an Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Port Elizabeth. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing risk, and determining appropriate coverage and premiums. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate various insurance proposals to determine acceptable risk.
• Adjust pricing models based on market trends and data analysis.
• Participate in training and development programs to enhance underwriting skills.
• Support policy renewals and endorsements through detailed analysis.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Commerce, or related field

Experience

• 4-6 years of relevant underwriting experience

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software Proficiency

Soft Skills

• Communication Skills
• Critical Thinking

Certifications

• Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with claims processing: Experience in processing insurance claims and understanding their implications on underwriting.
• Proficiency in Afrikaans: Fluent in Afrikaans enhances communication with a broader client base.
