Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Insurance Underwriter to join our Pretoria team. In this role, you will assess and evaluate complex insurance applications, determine coverage options, and calculate premiums to ensure our clients receive the best possible service and security. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of underwriting principles.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze insurance applications, considering risk factors and company policies.
• Make informed decisions regarding policy terms and conditions.
• Communicate decisions effectively to clients and agents, providing clarity and insights.
• Work within a team to improve underwriting processes and efficiency.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulations.
• Assist in developing training materials for junior underwriters.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or related field
• Postgraduate qualifications in Finance or Economics are an advantage

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting or similar role

Technical Skills

• Underwriting Software Proficiency
• Statistical Analysis

• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications
• Fellowship of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA)
