Manufacturing Automation Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer to join our innovative team in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automated manufacturing systems to improve production efficiency and reduce operational costs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of technology into our manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automation frameworks.
• Collaborate with production teams to align automation efforts with operational goals.
• Conduct feasibility studies for proposed automation projects.
• Provide technical support and guidance for automation system issues.
• Implement advanced manufacturing technologies such as robotics and AI.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities for automation tools and equipment.
• Participate in cross-departmental meetings to promote collaboration.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures for automated processes.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field
• Master's degree preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and automation processes

Technical Skills

• HMI Development
• SCADA Systems

Soft Skills

• Problem-Solving
• Adaptability

Certifications

• Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE)
• Safety Certifications related to automation

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in supply chain optimization: Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools: Experience with tools such as MATLAB, Python or similar.
